Elderly ladies in Vienna go missing. If this was The X-Files you might be thinking alien abduction as they all vanish without a trace. However, Moser is smart enough to realise that aliens probably wouldn't be interested in their valuables and looks closer to home.
Frau Kopetzky is possibly the only person who may have a clue as to what is going on, having seen suspicious movements at a neighbour's apartment shortly before her disappearance. She's remaining tight lipped though, particularly as there may be a familial link, via her deli-store, which also conveniently provides a source for the only 2 Wurstsemmel in this episode.
Moser is momentarily thrown until he detects building site material residual at the crime scene and realises that the elderly pillars of the community have become...well....pillars of the community, firmly cemented in new Viennese buildings.
It's not long before Moser and Rex have the identity of the perpetrator set in concrete!
Other players include the late Ida Krottendorf as Elfriede Kopetzky , the late Jane Tilden above as Valerie Bernhard, Wolfgang Boeck (above but not listed for this episode in IMDB), Thomas Morris above as Herbert Schwartz and the late Gusti Wolf above as Johanna Gebauer.
Again, a Recycling free zone!
