Rex Resolution 14:Schuesse auf Rex

A sizeable piece of the action but you can fast forward to highlights. Again, Italian.
The last episode of Series 1 and this times it's Rex who has the target on his head.

A nightclub owner is shot dead and Moser, Stocki and Rex inexplicably head off to the main railway station, armed with a rough sketch of the alleged perpetrator. I'm beginning to think this series should be renamed The Sixth Sense as the crew have the knack of heading to exactly the right spot to apprehend the villians. Lucky for me that the description accompanying the DVD explains that they have received a tip off because this episode doesn't do that at all, although it does make a vague reference to a taxi driver somewhat later.

Still, I always think it's better not to pay too much attention to detail with Inspector Rex.

The crim Karenin is immediately spotted by Stocki and Moser leaps into action. Hmm, slight overstatement there. What Moser actually does is lurks by Karenin's phone box as he makes a call to confirm he's bumped off the nightclub owner. When Karenin notices, Moser stands with a dopey smile on his face like he's a Wurstsemmel short of a Wurst. What the?

There's nothing like a swift kick to the crown jewels to bring Moser back to reality. Suddenly, the chase is on. Stocki gets a running start while Moser goes from writhing on the ground in complete agony to a 100m dash that would satisfy any Olympian. Soon as Karenin is arrested, he's back to limping again. Quite odd, that recovery trajectory.

Interested parties are none too pleased that Karenin's in the hands of the police and so Rex is grabbed on his morning Wurstsemmel run to put pressure on Moser to revise his evidence so Karenin can go free.

Notice the very poignant bag of double Wurstsemmel left in Moser's building foyer.

The rest of the episode is a race against time as Moser, Stocki and Hoellerer all put their police
jobs on the line to track Rex down before Karenin flees the country.

Other players include Krzysztof Majchrzak as Karenin, Leonard Lansink as Prantz, Peter Fitz as Matzner, Julia Gschnitzer (not credited with IMDB for this episode) and Wolfgang Michalek (also not credited for this episode). All shown above.

Introducing Recycled Rexer Andre Pohl as Dr. Bernhard here, later as Anwalt Beck in Die Taten der Toten (2002).
