Rex Resolution 41: Blutrose Rosen

Valentine's Day may soon be upon us but I'm betting you will not be wanting the blood-red roses delivered in this episode. When the delivery man shoots you at close point through the roses, it certainly is a case of 'From Russia with Love' and the Bond comparisons don't end there either. A case of industrial espionage unfolds as it emerges that the victims are both biochemists working on a promising new cancer drug.

When the family of the Professor leading the drug development are taken hostage, the Professor has little choice but to spill the secret formula to a Russian colleague, who wants to develop the drug first and without the usual safety testing. Unfortunately for him, he's running out of time as Moser and Boeck seek out the Professor while investigating the first shooting.

Sneaking Rex into the country house where the Professor's family are being held, the Russian's accomplice is soon taken captive and a map in his possession reveals the likely location of the Professor, just in time for the team to turn up and save the Professor from joining the day's list of victims.

Other players include Bernhard Schir , above, as Professor Dorner, Antonia Dalchau as Katrin Dorner, Henrik Lauerwald, above, not credited with IMDB for this episode, and Jurij Kramer, above, not credited in IMDB for this episode.

Recycled Rexers Josefin Platt, above, here as Ines Dorner, later in 'Der Neue' (1998) as Frau Kramer, journalist and Victor Schefe, above, not listed with IMDB for this episode but appearing in 'Der Vollmondmoerder' (2000) as Kurt Schima - though doesn't he look like a 'separated at birth' from Carson Kressley? Perhaps he should give the boys some fashion tips!

And that, fellow Rex tragics, is the end of Series 3!
