Stockinger Subtitles

Can anyone assist our fellow Russian Stockinger fans with subtitles for this series? I believe English would be fine?

Thanks!

What do they need, WS? English subtitles on episodes of Stocki for the Russian market?

Feronia, I'm the Russian fan aforementioned, and we need it not for market. The series has already been translated into Russian and shown on TV, so there's no sense in doing that again. We're just fans who want to hear the original speech, that's all. :)

Wurst Semmel, one more time great thanks for posting! If no one would be able to help with the subs, it's still nice that somebody learned about the very existence of Russian fans. :)

Hello! It is nice to hear from some Russian fans of Stocki. So, you want to read the original Austrian dialogue? Is Kommissar Rex also screened on Russian TV?

Hello!

In fact, we are the Rex fans, and only few of us have watched "Stockinger" when it was broadcasted on our TV, as the broadcast took place long ago and on some godforsaken channel, to tell the truth. :) I also never had the opportunity, but that's one more reason to long for watching. Watching and understanding, what's going on, of course. Many of us are linguists by profile, but the specialization is mostly English, and for "Germaners" the Austrian dialect is, to say the least, not an easy task to catch. :) So, that is why we are looking for the subs. If we find them, maybe we'll do the translation, for those who don't speak German at all, but, anyway, it would be a completely non-profitable action.

Kommissar Rex is much more popular in Russia, of course. It's regularly broadcasted here and there, and, well, we can speak of a whole generation brought up on Rex, without any exaggeration. :)

I am learning German and I find some Austrian dialects very, very hard to understand, so, unfortunately, I don't think I would be too much help with subtitling! I had no idea that Rex was so popular in Russia. What do you think appeals most about the show?

It's a good question. I believe we are attracted to the show by mostly the same things. These are the magic Vienna atmosphere, for example, then, maybe, the very style of the show? Personally I enjoy detectives greatly. Then it's the mild and subtle Austrian humour, so appropriate here, a bit specific but clear to anybody though. The teamwork, the way they all work together with everybody doing his part properly, the way they all treat each other. The characters, of course - we have both Moser-team fans and Brandtner-team ones (in fact, we do love all the kommissars, but, you know, there always are personal preferences), and Hoffman&Herzog, too. And we know about the Italian kommissar (Fabri?), but only some of us have seen the episodes on YouTube, and not much has been understood, so mister Fabri is still waiting for his peak of popularity, I'm sure. :)

So, the characters are really catching, I even can't point out the most charismatic one. :) I love the old team with Richard, but Boeck (hope the spelling is correct) is completely brilliant. And Kunz, with his obsession with putting his office accessories in order! And Doc Graf, always calm and laconic, and the cigars! And Max Koch, who is one of the dearest of them to me. And, of course, Rex. I think the point of their popularity is that they all give us the feeling that we've known them for the whole life. They all remind us of somebody, maybe our friends, relatives, neighbours or colleagues, or even ourselves! For instance, I behave myself in Fritz Kunz manner every time I get to my desk, reprimanding my sister for not putting the files in the correct order. And in respond she behaves herself exactly in Rex manner - she pays no attention to my reprimand. :)

And the - shame I don't know how they are called in English, so let it be German - Wurstsemmeln! Especially the Christmas variant, placed on the Christmas tree as a decoration. :) Well, you yourself know everything that appeals to viewers, and viewers from different countries and cultures, in fact, don't really differ - on the contrary, this is what makes them feel closer.

Sorry for being so verbose, hope Wurst Semmel doesn't mind. :)

Not at all. It's good to see some discussion on Rex. Largely, it's just Feronia and myself 'kicking' things around.

Note you can see the Fabri episodes from the link on my side bar. This is sries 10 - so the second lot of Rome episodes - and the tv company SBS hosts them for a week!

Thanks Кристал. It's great to read the thoughts of other Rex fans! I think that's what I love best about Rex - that feeling of watching really likeable characters who you feel as though you know. I especially felt this with the Moser-Stockinger-Hoellerer combination but also Brandtner-Boeck-Kunz. And Vienna is such a great location - beautiful but cosy too. Perfect for 'the good guy always wins in the end' stories of Rex! Does anyone know of any books which have been published about the show - sort of 'comapanion volumes'?

Wurst Semmel, thank you for the links!

Feronia, really? There were such books? I know what you mean, I've seen such periodicals in Supernatural fandom, but as for Rex - nothing I can remember.

Feronia said...

Кристал, I think there were a couple of novels written around plots from the show but as to a book *about* the show, there's nothing that I know of.

By the way, is it very cold in Russia at the moment?

Feronia, it would be nice to look through such a book, I think. Don't you know the author? I mean, is it some unknown person, or a fan, or someone who took part in the filming?
I'm only aware of fics, mostly humorous and in Russian, of course - never saw German or English.

And as for cold, I'm not sure, as I live in Ukraine. Among Urkainian fans, however, I personally know only myself, :) so usually I reckon myself among the Russian fans. But, well, the weather is quite alike, if to speak about the eastern part of Russia. Couple of days ago it was -20 and a great snowstorm, our street is still blocked with snow. Today it's +5, everything started to melt, and we all wish it was cold again!

Hello Кристал,

No such book exists that I am aware of. I was asking to see if you had heard of anything in Europe but it looks like there is nothing at all. Perhaps we fans need to think about putting something together ourselves! What do you think Wurst Semmel?

Sorry - I thought you were in Russia. - 20! It is 37 degrees celsius here today!!

Seasons Greetings :)

Feronia,
really a hot Christmas you have! Anyway, merry holidays. We (in Ukraine and Russia, and no offence about where I live, I do love both countries) don't usually celebrate it in December, our "Christmas Day" comes on the 7th of January, but the impression of how you celebrate it can leave nobody indifferent, so this day is not a common day for us, too. Happy holidays!

Dani,
thank you so much for the link. When I'm given my scholarship, maybe, I'll try to order something. :)

Dear Rex Fans...
I'm looking at this blog in 2012. I live in the US (NYC) and discovered Rex on a Turkish station that broadcasts from New Jersey (but only Seasons 1&2). We don't get it here on any other English channels, even though "Rex" lives here in California with his trainers (all the dogs).

Did you ever find the english subtitles? I know where to get them. I watched the show first on the Turkish channel, dubbed in English, then, on a Spanish channel dubbed into Spanish (did OK with my Italian), but then finally found the files online. They were much more interesting in the original language. You get much more a sense of the actors with the subtitles. Let me know if you still need them. Artisanware

Dear Rex Fans...

I, too, was looking for Stockinger subtitles. There may also be a source for those, but the files have not been uploaded yet.
