Watching Alexander

A short film by Julia Frick, winner of a Bronze Diana, some kind of film award (anyone know?) and featuring our friend Alexander. Sadly, no subtitles but some lovely Alexander viewing.

Rex Resolution 16:Blutspuren

An action packed episode with many, many Wurstsemmel (that's what's important, right?) and another major Recycled Rexer (see above....I think this clip is Spanish? Don't say this isn't an international site!)


More mischief from Dr. Graf as he insists on showing the mangled face of a victim hit by a train to Moser. Why would Moser be interested you ask? While rigged to look like suicide, Dr. Graf ascertains that the victim was already dead before being left on the rails. With no identity to the body, Rex again comes to the rescue, locating the dead man's watch (conveniently engraved) on the embankment.


It all looks like a crime of passion as Moser and team uncover a bitter history between the victim's wife and mistress but Dr. Graf's evidence points them in a new direction and car repair yards become of interest as they investigate a possible hit and run. Add in a good dose of blackmail and you can be sure there's more trouble afoot.


..and, in true Rex style, the blackmailer is someone quite significant, namely Alexander Pschill, later Kommissar in Series 7 and 8. Funky dungarees, Alex! Again, serious crim to admirable Kommissar, quite a transformation.

Other players, all above, include Christine Schuberth not listed with IMDB for this episode, Claudia Martini as Gerti and the late Rudi Schippel, uncredited for this episode with IMDB.

More Recycled Rexers in Dietrich Siegl, here as the blackmailer Kunert, later as Dr. Wagner in Verliebt in einen Moerder (2002), the late Georg Staudacher (who sadly committed suicide), uncredited by IMDB for this episode but listed for Toedliche Leidenschaft (1998) and also appearing in Stockinger, Alexander Pschill, of course, here as Seil and then as Kommissar Hoffmann from 2002 to 2004, and, finally, Daniela Gaets, Moser's vet girlfriend Sonya in a recurring role detailed in blog Rex Resolution 15, Stumme Schreie.

Hijacked

Got Google'd with an Alexander Pschill alert this morning. What an excellent start to a Wurstsemmel morning. A link to a website alexander-pschill.com. Seems Alex has finally rebuilt his site.

Hit the link and what did I get? Poor Alex has been hijacked by penis enlargement pills and Viagra ads. See here.

And talking of Hoffman...

I was about to say that Hoffman continues to lead the poll as favourite Kommissar but someone's tiptoed in and evened it up for Moser today. Still, it's a good excuse for another Alexander Pschill photo.

On the sidekick side, Stockinger was leading clearly but now Boeck has suddenly increased. Is that you voting, Heinz?

All voters (a heady five of us) affirm Rex should have stayed in Austria. Time to lobby Peter Hajek? Probably not. Yet.

Stockinger debuts tonight, 7.30pm SBS. You'll know where I'll be - filling in the bits I just couldn't understand. Like everything Stocki's female sidekick utters.

Yes, I've been neglecting the blog. Had no Rex time of late and, I have to confess, I've even missed the SBS showings due to an unfortunate time clash with The Amazing Race. Bad, bad Wurstsemmel. Still, there's always the dvds......

Note that no one is voting in the Favourite Kommissar poll. Not that this blog is being inundated with visitors. Rex fans where are you all?

It's good to see Alexander Pschill out in front. I didn't expect that. And while we're on the subject of Alex? We're still waiting on your revamped website....hint, hint.

Happy New Year!

I know. I'm neglecting the blog but Santa bought me Series 7, the only DVD set I didn't have. So have been couch bound with Hoffmann, Herzog, Kunz and Rex. Not a bad place to be.

SBS were generous to Rex fans with two additional showings over the holiday, both feature length episodes. On Christmas Day SBS ran 'An Angel on Four Paws', appropriate Christmas viewing. On New Year's Day, SBS treated us to 'Baby Rex', self explanatory really. Rex prior to Moser, Brandtner and Hoffmann.

I waver between which is my favourite series. The Moser years has the fun of Stocki, Brandtner years have the attraction of Boeck but, for now, I really like the interaction of Hoffmann and Herzog, along with the simmering frustration of Kunz.
