Rex Resolution 24: Der Duft des Todes

I thought I'd start off with a Klimt as this episode is about love (and betrayal) and I sighted a Klimt somewhere along the way.

Romance can be a killer as a woman discovers when her lover's caress turns into strangulation. The deed kills off Moser's romantic moments as Stocki calls him to attend the murder scene, leaving a rather disgrunted Sonja in bed. There's a sense her patience is wearing thin...she has something she wants to 'discuss', always an ominous phrase.

At the scene, there's little for Moser in terms of clues until Rex starts sneezing and alerts Dr. Graf to the presence of Musk. The trail of Musk allows Moser to determine that a rather unusual (and ugly) ring belonging to the woman has been removed from the apartment.

Meanwhile, the perpetrator is off bedding and breaking up with another woman. Having sucked money out of her, he's planning on moving on. A reasonable plan except he doesn't bargain on this woman taking it badly and throwing herself out of the window. When news of her suicide attempt is reported in the press, eagle-eyed Stocki spots her sporting an identical ring to the one taken from the apartment of the murder victim.

This heralds the return of 'Don't call me Sissi' as she beds down in the shared hospital ward with the suicide patient in order to get more information. Sissi is able to alert Moser when the woman ducks out of hospital for a rendez-vous with her lover in room 427 at the Palais Hotel (in case you're interested). Rex soon smells out the love rat and, although he has just left, he is apprehended before leaving the hotel.

With little hard evidence, Moser has no choice but to let him go but then has a brain wave and gets Rex to demonstrate his powerful sense of smell to the judge.

Once again, Rex saves the day!

Interesting, or not so interesting fact, one of the intended victims is named Brandtner.

Rex Resolution 21: Gefaehrliche Jagd

So, to business...

Life on a council estate. Alcoholic mother. Pet budgie. Who wouldn't want to escape, right? Two men decide to hold up a money truck but it all goes horribly wrong when shots are exchanged, leaving one security guard and one robber dead.

Moser and team are soon hot on the trail, identifying the dead robber from his finger prints, and turn up at the estate, where the surviving robber, Fuchs, has hidden the haul with his scantily clad girlfriend (have to get nudity into the episode somehow) before going to tell his accomplice's mother, aforesaid alcoholic, that her son is dead. The son might have been a 'braver Pup' but it doesn't seem to sink in that he's now a deceased 'Pup'. Moser and Stockinger aren't going to get anything out of her and it all looks a little hopeless until Rex discovers a secret passageway that allows movement between different parts of the estate.

Moser chases down Fuchs, confronting him in the communal showers (enabling further gratuitous nude shots). Fuchs grabs a hostage (thankfully clothed), allowing him to escape. A carjack later, he winds up at the Vienna Water Tower, hoping to meet his girlfriend. Unfortunately, her attempt to leave the estate with the suitcase disguised as one very ugly baby gets foiled by Hoellerer and Fuchs is stood up.

Spotted by patrolling cops, his location is blown and a big shoot out is on the cards. This is the second time Moser takes a bullet but, of course, we all know it won't be the last.....

Rex Resolution 16:Blutspuren

An action packed episode with many, many Wurstsemmel (that's what's important, right?) and another major Recycled Rexer (see above....I think this clip is Spanish? Don't say this isn't an international site!)


More mischief from Dr. Graf as he insists on showing the mangled face of a victim hit by a train to Moser. Why would Moser be interested you ask? While rigged to look like suicide, Dr. Graf ascertains that the victim was already dead before being left on the rails. With no identity to the body, Rex again comes to the rescue, locating the dead man's watch (conveniently engraved) on the embankment.


It all looks like a crime of passion as Moser and team uncover a bitter history between the victim's wife and mistress but Dr. Graf's evidence points them in a new direction and car repair yards become of interest as they investigate a possible hit and run. Add in a good dose of blackmail and you can be sure there's more trouble afoot.


..and, in true Rex style, the blackmailer is someone quite significant, namely Alexander Pschill, later Kommissar in Series 7 and 8. Funky dungarees, Alex! Again, serious crim to admirable Kommissar, quite a transformation.
