Never let it be said that Rex perpetuates stereotypes. Another story of love and betrayal, this time at the hands of a woman. When a wealthy industrialist is kidnapped, his wife is beside herself. Keen to avoid the involvement of the police, she works on meeting the kidnappers demands, only to find her husband had left instructions that no ransom should ever be paid were he to be kidnapped.
Unfortunately, the kidnappers get sprung by a curious neighbour (Neighbourhood Watch is alive and well in Austria), who falls victim to a nasty blow on the head from a plant pot. Following up on the murder, a very observant Moser notices a missing plant pot from a set of house steps and investigates further. Inside the house is a room set up like a prison and Moser starts to think there's more to the story. When the nephew of the house owner turns out to be bodyguard to a wealthy industrialist, whose wife reacts in a different way than might be expected, Moser becomes even more intrigued...
