Rex Resolution 37: Warum starb Romeo?

The classic Romeo and Juliet. Except in this case, poor Romeo gets crushed by a Greek/Roman pillar rather than love. Quite the proverbial show stopper and shades of Phantom of the Opera. Just who is lurking above?

Frustratingly for Moser, the firement who might possibly provide a clue was absent from his post, checking on his new baby coincidentally called....Richard. Small world, huh?

A possible suspect appears early in the piece, the props man, named Franz, called Charlie. When a threatening note from Charlie is found in the dead man's things, it's not looking good. Seems the victim owed Charlie quite a bit of cash, so it wouldn't be a surprise if Charlie mishandled a prop or two. However, poor Charlie gets dizzy when he stands on a chair so that rules him out.

Juliet is beside herself. She'd only recently poached Romeo off the makeup artist. Who can she possibly hit on next? Moser. Thank goodness he's way too smart for that.

Boeck (such a lovely Juliet) and the handsome Rex (Romeo) re-enact the scene on stage and it suddenly becomes apparent poor Romeo was not the intended victim. Nope, Romeo and Juliet had inadvertently swapped places and the real target was Juliet. Poor Boeck gets assigned protection duty and ends up narrowly saving Juliet from getting run down by a car that mysteriously resembles the orange escort he drove in Todesrennen.

When the car is traced, the mystery, as Clousseau would say, is solv-ed.

Who, you say? Not telling. If I have to watch 37 episodes to get to this point, you can certainly watch one!

Exactly my thoughts, Nikki. Having finished work for the day, and it was already 38C when I left just before midday, the afternoon is going to be spent firmly planted on the couch with a nice chilly double episode of Rex - snow everywhere, sigh.

Some of my fellow Brits send us a snowball or two!

Keep cool, Nikki!
